Morphettville Park will be aiming for its first win since crossing to the Adelaide Football League when it hosts Kilburn in Division 4 this weekend.
The Roos went down to North Haven by 23 points in their season-opener on the weekend. But the newcomers could take plenty of positives from the outing against a side that has fallen one win short of a grand final for the past two seasons and again looks likely to be in the premiership mix. Sam Barnett (two goals) was a standout for Morphettville Park and Edward Doak provided a target in attack and booted three majors. The Roos will be hoping to make the most of home ground advantage against Kilburn at Kellett Reserve. The Chics started 2017 with an impressive 35-point home victory over Eastern Park. Kilburn’s attacking options proved too hard for the Demons to stop.
Eastern Park will be looking to get its season back on track when it faces round one winners Edwardstown at ALDI Arena. The Towns will have to stop Ian Williamson – who kicked five goals in the opening round – if they are to improve to 2-0. Edwardstown was solid from start to finish against Smithfield last week in a contest that could have proven to be dangerous. Jake Cairns (five goals) and Toby Case started the season in fine form.
