For more than a decade the Goodwood has been the dominant force in the Norwood Hotel division 1 competition of the Adelaide Footy League. Others have reached the peak but none have been able to sustain the ongoing success of the Saints.
Rostrevor have themselves tasted division 1 premiership success and are currently the bookies favourite to repeat their efforts of 2013. These two titans clash in this week’s game of the round. Both teams midfield contain an abundance of stars. Having seen both teams play this year I think the lightning quick hands of the ROCS on-ballers should set up its quality outside run to create enough scoring opportunities for the likes of Heath Commane, Nick Hombsch and Jacob Gilbee to set up a win.
St. Peters are still searching for their first win as they host Salisbury North. The break might be just what the Hawks need after two tight and tough close games. Again most games are won and lost in the midfield and it’s the Hawks with “Smokin” Joe Hay, Michael Clinch and Alex Stengle who should have too much class for SPOC who might only have a one year sojourn in division 1.
PAOC have started to look dangerous in the last month and they seem to have replaced the 8 players who exited from last year’s premiership team. Names like Brock Castree, Jake Pitt, Hayden Jolly and Adam Perryman make the Reds an imposing unit. They face an Adelaide Uni team whose best has been very good but still rely too heavily on the Paynter brothers to serve up match winning performances and will need a spike in form from Casey “Choppers” Grice to set up a win.
