Rostrevor Old Collegians have started the year with a bang upsetting the reigning premiers by 34 points. 2017 is met with great expectation by the boys from Campbelltown Oval and they delivered in spades on Saturday. They finished all over PAOC in a 7.7 – 2.2 second half.

Rostrevor’s big name recruit Michael Coad was impressive on debut. He was well supported by Jimmy Butterworth and former medallist Craig Holm. In front of the big sticks it was Nick Hombsch and “Handsome” Hurley who did the damage with 7 between them. Will Brennan, Glenelg recruit Jake Pitt and former PAC student George “Donger” Hannaford where the standouts for the Reds.

As predicted the Goodwood Saints are highly likely to be one of the big improvers in 2017 and they led all day to get the better of Salisbury North in a low scoring affair.  Anthony Skara led the way with a best on ground performance whilst the name Travis Tuck appeared in the best players. This is likely to be a regular occurrence throughout the year. For the Hawks it was former Rooster Michael Clinch who was the standout and he was well supported by Dion Lawlor.
