Div 2- Mt Loft Vs Adelaide Uni
Arkaba Oval- Heathfield Sunday 3:00pm
A DANGER GAME FOR LOFTY
In their first year in the competition Mt Lofty have been one of the standout teams. They have managed 8 wins from 9 games and are currently sitting second on the ladder. Lofty took out the match easily the last time these two met, running away early and finishing with a 48 point lead. Mt Lofty looked stronger all over the ground, outmuscling, outrunning and outplaying Adelaide Uni; a remarkable feat considering it was their first ever match. However, Adelaide University’s side has come a long way. Only last week Adelaide Uni defeated 6th placed Flinders Uni by a whopping 118 points, aided by a 10-goal haul from emerging full forward Nicole Collie. With Adelaide University hitting this form and Mt Lofty coming off their first loss of the year, the stage is set for a big match. Rucks Jordan Keipert (Uni) and Brigid Needs (Lofty) have both been in fine form and, with both teams carrying ample fire power up front, first use of the ball will be of upmost importance. For Adelaide University to match it with Lofty’s strength they will need impact players Ebony O’Dea and Alexandra Cannizzaro to win contests around the ground. Adelaide Uni will also need to make sure their forward entries are spot on, with Lofty defender Rebecca Northcott delivering a fine performance last week. Crucially, Lofty welcome back forward Madeleine Dufek from injury. Madeleine was a clear best on ground the last time these two met and may just be the difference on Sunday. This will be a close match, but the higher placed Lofty will be expected to get over the line.
